One Case Solved. One More To Go. Serial Killer Wayne Nance and The Case of "The Montana Jane Doe's" (1984-1985)

Wayne Nance is believed to be Montana's only serial killer. On September 4, 1986, Nance met his fate when he broke into the home of Kris and Doug Welles of Missoula, Montana. After a fierce fight, both Kris and Doug managed to over power Wayne Nance where he was shot to death with his own pistol. A search of Nance's home revealed evidence linking him to a series of other murder's in the area to include the mother of his best friend, which Nance committed when he was 19.

His other victim's include our case today. In addition, hairs found at Nance's home matched those of a Jane Doe found dead in 1984. Police believe this Jane Doe, who went by the name of ROBIN and claimed to be from Texas, was Nance's live-girlfriend for a short time before she was murdered. Police were unable to identify the victim until last week. After almost 22 years, DNA tests have confirmed the woman’s identity as Marcella Cheri Bachmann, a 16 year old runaway from Oregon.

Marcella Bachmann was spotted after her brother Derek, had seen the cold case series reported by Kathy Weber of KPAX Missoula on the internet.

Our prayers and condolences here in the Bighouse at KABS Arlington go out to the Bachmann family. However, we’re not done because police still need your help. Police also believe Nance was responsible for Missoula County's remaining Jane Doe known as Crissy Crystal Creek, who was found dead a year later in 1985. Like Marcella, she had also been shot in the head.

After twenty years, it's time to help police close out this case. Click on the web link below, read the case file, look at the picture and if you have any information about this victim, contact the Missoula County Police Department.

The Mystery of Boulder Canyon. Colorado 1954.

On April 18, 1954, two college students hiking in Boulder Canyon, Colorado discovered the body of a white female, 5 feet 2 inches tall between the ages of 17 to 20 years old, with light brown or blondish hair with a tinge of red. Her hair did not appear to have been dyed. Neither her clothing or other evidence was found to identify the victim despite and intensive search. Police at that time believe she may have been the victim of serial killer Harvey Glatman, who was known for posing as a photographer to lure his victims into the woods to take nude photographs. Glatman was executed in 1959 in California for the murders of three women. Police also believe the identity of the victim could be Katherine Dyer who disappeared in March 1954, but her immediate family can’t be located for DNA testing.
