The Disappearance of Texas A&M Student Suzanne Rene Richersen. Texas 1988.

Originally aired on May 11, 2006.
-
Suzanne Rene Richerson is described as a white female, 5 feet 8 inches tall with brown hair and blue eyes. Suzanne, who goes by her middle name, Rene, was 22 years old at the time of her disappearance. Suzanne Rene Richerson was a student at Texas A & M University in Galveston, Texas and was employed as a night clerk at Casa Del Mar Condominiums on Seawall Boulevard. Richerson was described as a good student having moved to Galveston to complete her senior year while majoring in maritime administration and possibly a degree in maritime law. Richerson was last seen at work at approximately 6:00 a.m. on October 7, 1988 by resort security guards. Another employee who was sleeping in a room above Richerson's office heard a female scream shortly after the guards left the vicinity. A car door slammed shut, accompanied by another scream and the sound of a car speeding away from the parking lot shortly thereafter. A guest arrived at Richerson's office to check out at approximately 6:30 a.m. and discovered the desk was abandoned. There was no sign of a struggle and Richerson's purse, books and car were left at the resort. One of Richerson's shoes was located in the parking lot later in the morning, but she has never been seen again. Foul play is suspected in Richerson's case. Her disappearance may be connected to a string of over 20 women who have been abducted and/or murdered in the Galveston, Texas area since the 1970's. A task force comprised of local law enforcement officials and Federal Bureau Of Investigation (FBI) agents has been formed to investigate the incidents called Operation HALT (Homicide/Abduction Liason Team). One suspect, Gabriel Soto, died as the result of an apparent drug overdose in late July 2002. Authorities stated that they believed Soto was involved in Richerson's abduction, but he was never charged in connection with her disappearance. Soto was arrested sometime before his death after allegedly attempting to run his vehicle over another individual. Two cousins were questioned about Richerson's case in May 2001. Media sources claimed that officials had located circumstancial evidence that connected the men to her disappearance. Both cousins resided in Galveston in 2001 and allegedly denied any involvement in her case. Click on the web link below, read the case file and if you have any information, contact your local police.

The Disappearance of The Thompson Family. Illinois 1996.

Originally aired on May 25, 2006.
-
Everett Thompson Sr. owner of Eat and Company, a Park Manor neighborhood business, in Chicago, Illinois was last seen on July 5, 1996 by one of his employees. On that July afternoon Thompson's father phoned his son, Everett, at the Chicago restaurant. The elder Thompson recalled the topic of Kenneth White, his brother-in-law, an ex-convict, who posed as the freeloading house guest of Everett and his wife, Lydia Thompson. No sooner had the elder Thompson brought up White's name when Everett interrupted their conversation to take a frantic phone call from Lydia, at home with the couple's two sons, Everett Jr., 10, and Andrew, 8. Back on the line seconds later Everett's voice was tense. He told his dad he had to go home right away. Lydia's brother was chasing her around the house with an ax. She locked herself in the bedroom and called Everett to come home. The early July phone call was the last time either man spoke to the other. Everett's family reported him missing on July 17, 1996, when she was unable to contact him, his wife Lydia, or either of their two sons, Everett, Jr. and Andrew. Kenneth White, Lydia's brother, had been questioned on several occassions regarding the disappearance of the family and was indicted for falsifying his sister's signature on documents immediately following her disappearance. White committed suicide in December of 1997 without revealing any information he may have had regarding the family. Gone, is the family van--since crushed in a salvage yard--and the interior of their home in the 8100 block of South Rhodes Avenue, which was gutted and rehabbed by new owners. Police say if there was foul play, and they think there was, it happened on July 4, 5 or 6, 1996. No one saw the Thompson family after that time and Kenneth was seen driving the Thompson van soon after that weekend. Click on the web links below, read the case files and if you have any information on the whereabouts of The Thomspon Family, contact your local police.

The Disappearance of Actress Jean Elizabeth Spangler. California 1949.

Originally aired on May 11, 2006
-
Jean Elizabeth Spangler was born in Seattle, Washington, on September 2, 1923 and graduated from Franklin High School in Los Angeles in 1941. While working as a dancer with the Earl Carroll Theatre, Jean met and married Dexter Benner, a local manufacturer in 1942, and they had a daughter, Christine, who was born April 22, 1944. Two years later, in 1946, she had a bitter court battle with her ex-husband about getting custody of their young daughter. In 1948, ruling a daughter's place is with her mother, a judge awarded full custody to Jean. The brown haired, 27 year old divorced mother continued her acting career and soon received a bit part working on the motion picture, A Man with a Horn, with actor Kirk Douglas. At 5 p.m. on October 7, 1949, the 27 year old actress, kissed her daughter goodbye and told her sister-in-law that she was going to work on a movie set after she met with her ex-husband to discuss overdue child support payments. That was the last time anyone saw her.On October 9th, a Griffith Park reported finding Jean Spangler’s purse near the entrance to the park, apparently with most of it's original contents still intact and undisturbed. After a 60-man search of Griffith Park turned up no additional clues, investigators went to work reconstructing Jean’s last hours before her disappearance. Dexter Benner denied having seen Jean for weeks, a story backed up by Benner’s new wife. Further investigation revealed Jean Spangler was three months pregnant. An unfinished note in the purse addressed to a "Kirk" read "Can't wait any longer, Going to see Dr. Scott. It will work best this way while mother is away." The note ended with a comma as if it hadn't been finished. Police concluded that the “Kirk” referred to in the note was not actor Kirk Douglas since he had been vacationing in Palm Springs at the time of Jean’s disappearance. Police also learned none of the movie studios had scheduled any kind of a late night shoot. Click on the web links below, read the case files and if you have any information about the disappearance of Jean Elizabeth Spangler, contact your local police.

"The Franklin Floyd Affair." Texas to Oklahoma. 1973 through 1994.

Originally aired on May 8, 2006
-
A mystery in the making that took over 20 years. 32 year old Franklin Floyd abducted a young girl between June 1973 and August 1975 and passed her off as his daughter as he raised her under several aliases in several different states. Over the years, he sexually abused her and took pictures of her from the age of four to pre-teen years engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The unidentified woman graduated from high school in Forest Park, Georgia under the name “Suzanne Davis” in 1986. Later in the year she moved to Phoenix Arizona and began using the alias “Sharon Marshall.” Then moved to Tampa, Florida and using the name Tonya Tadlock, gave birth to a son named Michael Anthony Hughes on March 21, 1988. Using the name Clarence Marcus Hughes, Franklin Floyd married his “daughter” Tonya Tadlock in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1989. A year later in 1990 both Franklin Floyd and his wife/daughter were wanted in connection with a Florida Homicide, but before any legal proceedings could begin, Tonya was killed in a very suspicious hit and run accident where Floyd was allegedly the main suspect, but was never charged. The son, Michael Hughes was placed in foster care. On September 12, 1994, Floyd walked into Michael’s school in Choctaw, Oklahoma and at gun point, forced the school’s principal, James Davis, to take him to Michael’s first grade classroom where they were both kidnapped and drove away in a pickup. Davis was ordered to drive out into the country where Franklin Floyd handcuffed the school principal to a tree and fled with Michael Davis. The principal was rescued five hours later. There was no sign of Floyd until his arrest when he was employed as a painter. During police interviews, Floyd stated that his son, Michael Davis, was alive and living in a foreign country. However, in formerly sealed documents, Floyd allegedly confessed to three people including his sister that he drowned Michael in a motel bathtub possibly somewhere in Georgia. A check of missing person’s databases has turned up no leads as to Tonya’s true identity. To add to the mystery of the case, earlier blood tests concluded that Franklin Floyd was not Michael Davis’ biological father. Floyd his currently serving a 52 year prison sentence for kidnapping Michael.
